In 1993 the restaurant Chao Praya
began operations along Norodom Boulevard (then known
as Tou Samouth) serving a multitude of United Nations
personnel and various aid agency staff and foreign journalists.
Tourism in Cambodia was not yet a fully
organized industry as the country was just coming out
of its first election in decades.
The barbecue and grilled seafood was
the talk of town, as with the wide array of Thai, Cambodian
and Vietnamese food. Back then the buffet spread was
the biggest seen outside of the hotel banquet scene.
Since that initial success, the Cambodia
Restaurant group has followed with Tonle Sap, Tonle
Mekong and Tonle Bassac.
Our four restaurants have become a
regular attraction and tourist itinerary listing for
people going through Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Scores
of returning travelers continue to enjoy our unsurpassed
banquet and excellent service.
Today a tour group visit to Angkor
Wat is never complete without the dining experience
in one of our restaurants. Foreign visitors have sent
us messages of appreciation from around the world commending
our variety and excellence of our food and our gracious
service.
